Mr. Li Wei (hereinafter referred to as the “client”) is an experienced overlanding enthusiast and amateur photographer based in Shanghai, China. He frequently embarks on self-drive expeditions with his family across remote regions of China, such as the Tibetan Plateau, the deserts of Xinjiang, and the rainforests of Yunnan. These trips typically last 10-20 days, requiring reliable power for critical equipment including a portable fridge for food preservation, camera and drone gear, camping lights, laptops, and various communication devices. Previously relying on a combination of small power banks and his car’s inverter, he faced constant challenges: inability to run the fridge overnight without draining the car battery, insufficient power for camera equipment recharge over multi-day stops, and no reliable backup for essential devices during emergencies or when the vehicle was off.
Project Challenges
- Extended Off-Grid Independence: Needed a power source to sustain a 12V portable fridge (40W), camera gear, and lighting for a minimum of 2-3 days without any vehicle recharge, especially during stationary camping.
- High-Power Device Compatibility: Required to safely power devices with higher wattage demands, such as an electric cooking pan (800W) for meal preparation and a small projector (100W) for family entertainment.
- Harsh Environment Resilience: The power solution must perform reliably in diverse and extreme conditions encountered on Chinese roads—high-altitude cold on the Tibetan Plateau, intense heat and dust in the Taklamakan Desert, and high humidity in Southern China.
- Family-Centric Safety & Convenience: As a family man, he prioritized safety (stable battery chemistry), quiet operation (not disturbing wildlife or camp peace), and ease of use for all family members.
- Dual-Use Functionality: Sought a system that was vital for adventures but could also serve as a substantial power reserve for his apartment during occasional urban power outages, a growing concern in his area.
